Morgan shows electric sports car concept with manual transmission

(March 15, 2012) GENEVA — An electric sports car with a five-speed manual gearbox has been designed by Morgan with the support of British technology specialists Zytek and Radshape. It is being shown in Geneva as a concept to test market reaction. The radical new roadster could enter production if there is sufficient demand.

2005-2006 Ford Taurus probed for throttle sticking

(March 13, 2012) The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has launched a preliminary investigation into claims of the throttle sticking open on the Ford Taurus from the 2005-06 model years.

NHSTA says there are 14 claims of a stuck throttle in the Taurus, possibly because of the cruise-control cable becoming detached. No injuries have been reported.

Jaguar Land Rover adds 1,000 jobs in UK to support Evoque, Freelander

(March 13, 2012) Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) today announced the creation of 1,000 new jobs at its Halewood Operations manufacturing facility, near Liverpool in the UK. The new positions, which will support the on-going significant demand for the Range Rover Evoque and Land Rover Freelander 2,  take the workforce at Halewood to almost 4,500 —triple the number employed there just three years ago.

2013 Dodge Charger Sprint Cup Series car unveiled at LVMS

Toyota giving 100 cars to 100 nonprofits in 100 days

Hyundai releases images of 2013 Santa Fe crossover

2013 Toyota Venza crossover to be shown in New York

Volvo truck plant first to gain two top energy certifications

(March 10, 2011) Volvo Trucks’ New River Valley, Va., assembly plant is the first U.S. manufacturing facility to achieve two top energy certifications.

New River Valley is the largest Volvo Trucks manufacturing plant in the world, and has been certified by the ISO 50001 standard and the Superior Energy Performance (SEP). ISO 50001 and SEP are, respectively, the top international standard and top U.S. certification program for driving continuous improvements in energy efficiency.

Chevrolet plans purpose-built Camaro drag racer

(March 10, 2012) DETROIT – Chevrolet will build 69 COPO Camaros for 2012, the brand’s first purpose-built Camaro drag-racing specialty car designed to compete with the quickest in NHRA’s Stock Eliminator and Super Stock classes. National records for quarter-mile times in these contests are in the nine-second range. As such, the COPO Camaros are expected to be the quickest Camaro ever offered by Chevrolet.
