Chrysler Canada reports highest August sales since 2000

(September 5, 2012) WINDSOR, Ontario — Chrysler Canada has announced its 33rd consecutive month of year-over-year sales growth, representing the longest sales streak in the company’s history. August 2012 sales were 20,569 compared with 18,816 in August, 2011, which represents a 9 per cent increase. Chrysler Canada experienced the best calendar-year-to date sales since 2000, with 175,017 vehicles sold.

Toyota sales up 40 percent over August 2011

(September 5, 2012) TORRANCE, Calif. — Toyota has reported August 2012 sales results of 188,520 units, an increase of 40.2 percent compared to the same period last year on a daily selling rate (DSR) basis. On a raw volume basis, unadjusted for 27 selling days in August 2012 compared to 26 selling days in August 2011, Toyota sales were up 45.6 percent from the year-ago month.

General Motors August sales up 10 percent over 2011

(September 5, 2012)  DETROIT — General Motors has reported August sales of 240,520 vehicles in the United States, up 10 percent compared with a year ago. GM increased its sales to retail customers by 11 percent, making August its best retail month of the year. Sales to fleet customers were up 6 percent compared with a year ago. All four GM brands posted higher total and retail sales.

New Honda Accord to get plug-in hybrid model

Ford sales up 13 percent over August 2011

(September 4, 2012) DEARBORN, Mich. — Led by the Escape and Fusion, Ford ’s U.S. total sales increased 13 percent in August compared with last year — and 19 percent for retail sales — with gains in cars, utilities and trucks.
 
“As fuel prices rose again during August, we saw growing numbers of people gravitate toward our fuel-efficient vehicles — cars, utilities and trucks,” said Ken Czubay, Ford vice president, U.S. Marketing, Sales and Service.

Volkswagen reports best August sales since 1973

(September 4, 2012) HERNDON, Va. — Volkswagen today reported 41,011 units sold in August, a 62.5 percent increase over prior year sales, a 37.6 percent increase year-to-date and the best August since 1973. “Delivering over 40,000 vehicles this month is another milestone for us as we continue to see customer demand grow for our products,” said Jonathan Browning, President and CEO, Volkswagen Group of America.

Hyundai sets August sales record at 61,099

(September 4, 2012) COSTA MESA, Calif. — Hyundai Motor America announced an all-time August sales record of 61,099 units, a four percent increase compared with the same period a year ago and the best August sales level in company history, even topping the Cash for Clunkers mark set in 2009.
