Toyota West Virginia plant commemorates 10 millionth powertrain unit

Ford takes year-to-date sales lead in Canada

(May 3, 2013) OAKVILLE, Ont. — Ford Motor Company of Canada sales increased 16 per cent in  April, making this the best April for sales in more than a decade and securing year-to-date leadership. The increase was driven by strength across the lineup, including the all-new Fusion and Escape, which were up 21 and 26 per cent respectively, marking the best April on record for both.

Volkswagen Beetle Turbo and Jetta GLI receive power boost

Ford adding 2,000-plus jobs at Kansas City Assembly

(May 3, 2013) KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Ford will add more than 2,000 jobs at its Kansas City Assembly Plant to meet surging demand for the Ford F-150 and planned production of the all-new Ford Transit.
 
“Customer demand for today’s F-150 is strong and continues growing, the truck segment is growing three times faster than the overall industry, the housing market is strengthening, and we are seeing growth in the U.S. economy,” said Joe Hinrichs, Ford’s president of The Americas.

Production of 2014 Acura MDX begins in Alabama

(May 3, 2013) LINCOLN, Ala. — Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley joined more than 1,500 associates at Honda Manufacturing of Alabama (HMA) on My 2 to celebrate the start of mass production of the all-new 2014 Acura MDX luxury sport utility vehicle.

HMA is now the exclusive global production source of the Acura MDX, along with key Honda light truck models, including the Odyssey minivan, the Pilot sport utility vehicle and the Ridgeline pickup. HMA also builds the V-6 engines that power each model.

2014 Corvette Stingray to pace 97th Indianapolis 500

(May 3, 2013) INDIANAPOLIS — The all-new, seventh-generation 2014 Corvette Stingray will serve as the Indianapolis 500 Pace Car, leading the field to green at the start of the 97th running of “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing,” on Sunday, May 26, at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

It marks a record 12th time the Corvette has served as the Pace Car, starting in 1978.

Toyota sales dip 5.4 percent in April compared to 2012

(May 2, 2013) TORRANCE, Calif. — Toyota has reported April 2013 sales results of 176,160 units, a decrease of 5 percent on a daily selling rate (DSR) basis compared to the same period last year. Toyota Division posted April total sales of 158,069 units, down 5.4 percent year-over-year on a DSR basis.  Volume-wise, Toyota Division sales decreased 1.5 percent over April 2012.
