Chrysler reports July sales increased 11 percent; best July in seven years

(August 1, 2013) AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — Chrysler Group today reported U.S. sales of 140,102 units, an 11 percent increase compared with sales in July 2012 (126,089 units), and the group’s best July sales since 2006.

Ford Escape sets new half-year sales record for small utilities

(August 1, 2013) The Ford Escape has set a new sales record. It is now the first small utility ever to sell more than 150,000 vehicles in the first half of any year.

TheEscape is on pace to break its all-time annual sales record, set last year, of 261,008 vehicles sold. Sales through June totaled 156,626 vehicles outselling Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4 through the first half of this year.

GM expands landfill-free efforts in Asia

(July 30, 2013) DETROIT — General Motors’ Rayong engine plant in Thailand and Cheongna proving ground in Korea are now landfill-free, bringing the company’s total to 33 sites throughout Asia that recycle, reuse or convert to energy all of their daily waste. GM’s landfill-free facility count in Asia compares to 45 in North America and 22 in Europe. 

Chrysler Group reports second-quarter net income of $507 million

(July 30, 2013) AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — Chrysler Group, riding sales gains in the United States and globally, reported net income of $507 million in the second quarter as strong sales of pickups and SUVs led the automaker to its eighth consecutive quarterly profit. Earnings rose 16 percent from the $436 million posted during the same quarter of 2012, Chrysler said in a statement today.
