Inaugural Atlanta Concours high on prestige with cars of provenance

(October 11, 2016) ATLANTA, Ga. — The inaugural Atlanta Concours d’Elegance took on the classic car world with conviction this past weekend, as this newest classic car show entered the American Concours circuit and not only boasted its own field of vehicles of provenance, but awarded its highest honors to two significant cars that have earned former class-winning entrée from the likes of Pebble Beach, Meadowbrook and Amelia Island.

Top honors belonged to DeNean Stafford III of Tifton, Ga, with his 1909 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost, receiving the Atlanta Concours’ 2016 "Best of Show."

GM delivers September record 343,773 vehicles in China

(October 11, 2016) SHANGHAI — General Motors and its joint ventures delivered a September record 343,773 vehicles in China, which was up 16 percent year over year. Cadillac set an all-time record for monthly deliveries, while Buick and Baojun reached new highs for September.

“The growth in demand last month was supported by improving product mix,” said GM Executive Vice President and GM China President Matt Tsien. “We saw strong sales momentum across our brands, especially Cadillac in the luxury segment.”  

Harold experiences the Alfa Romeo 4C Spider

(October 10, 2016) Harold Gunn loves the razor-sharp handling, quick acceleration and the overall thrill of driving a gorgeous open-air sports car fast and hard. But he finds the Alfa Romeo 4C Spider also comes with a loud engine noise, minimal interior accommodations and lack of storage space.

Harold says, don't bother to turn of the audio system. The wonderful sound of the engine will drown it out.

GMC introduces Sierra HD All Terrain X

VW Tiguan gets 236 horsepower from diesel engine in United Kingdom

(October 10, 2016) With more power on tap than even the current iteration of the iconic Golf GTI, Volkswagen is making its most potent compact Tiguan crossover yet available for order in the UK this October.  The new 240 PS (236 horsepower) bi-turbo diesel, designated BiTDI, also offers an increase of 30 horsepower over the previous most powerful Tiguan, the 2.0 TSI seen in the preceding generation of the car.

Kia shows 3.5 percent year-on-year global sales growth

(October 10, 2016) Kia Motors announced today its September 2016 global sales figures — export sales, domestic sales and sales from overseas plants — for passenger cars and commercial vehicles, recording a total of 252,586 units sold. This figure represents a 3.5% year-on-year increase compared to the same month of 2015.

In September, Kia posted year-on-year sales increases in China (24.5% growth with 56,318 units sold), Western Europe (11.8% growth with 44,700 units sold) and general markets (6.6% growth with 41,978 units sold).

Mercedes switches on with Generation EQ

(October 10, 2016) Mercedes calls it the “Generation EQ,” an electric crossover concept with two electric motors, permanent all-wheel drive, and a modular chassis and battery pack that is scalable across all of Mercedes’ coming EVs, compact to luxury. System output can reach 400 horsepower and range 310 miles, but Mercedes also is hoping to sell customers everything from electric vehicles to wall box charging units to home energy storage units to charging services as they increase their “Electric Quotient.”

Hyundai Tucson fuel cell drivers accumulate more than 1.5 million miles

(October 9, 2016) FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif. — In celebration of National Hydrogen Day yesterday, Hyundai Tucson Fuel Cell drivers have again surpassed an important threshold, accumulating more than 1,500,000 miles on the roads and highways of both Southern and Northern California. These fuel cell CUVs have emitted only clean water vapor, and by so doing, have replaced approximately 575 tons of CO2 emissions that would have been emitted by vehicles of similar size and capability.

Subaru celebrates pets in October
