Out from the shadows — Toyota’s 2019 Corolla Hatchback

(April 1, 2018) The previous generation of the Toyota Corolla Hatchback was called the Scion iM, then Toyota Corolla iM. It was based on the European market Toyota Auris, which itself was based on the Toyota Avensis platform. For 2019, it gets a full name, Corolla Hatchback, and moves to Toyota’s modular TNGA platform.

Mecum Auctions returns to Houston with 1,000 cars

(March 29, 2018) For the past 10 years or so, entry-level car buyers have been flocking to Kia dealerships. And it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out why.  Price, price, price!  Sorry for adapting your slogan, Realtor friends, but that’s the bottom line.  Kia currently offers 7, count them, 7 different models with a starting MSRP under $26,000. The list includes nearly the entire line: Optima, Sportage, Sorrento, Soul, Rio, Niro and Forte. 

A pile of Ford rust



This is one of the most rusted out abandoned vehicles we've ever encountered. The incredibly rust-laden late 1960s Ford truck was spotted near Kahaluu, Hawaii, by Jim Prueter. Prueter said he was told by a "reliable individual" the rust was created by the huge amounts of acid rain caused by the active volcano on the big island. No reason to doubt that analysis — the proof is in the Ford.
