1950 Dodge in the wild



In 1949, Dodge came out with its first all-new car since the pre-war 1942 model. They were produced from 1949 through 1954 with only some grille changes through those years. For instance, the 1950 model front-end lasted for just a year before another rendition showed up 1951. The post-war cars could be purchased with Fluid Drive, a semi-automatic transmission that reduced (but did not eliminate) the need to shift gears. This 1950 example was found abandoned in New Mexico.

New Ford F-150 Raptor R cranks out 720 horsepower



(December 28, 2023) The new 2024 Ford F-150 Raptor R is the most powerful and capable high performance off-road full-size truck to ever run in the sand and beyond, thanks to an updated 5.2-liter supercharged V8 cranking out 720 horsepower and 640 lb.-ft. of torque. The 20 horsepower increase is achieved with reduced air inlet losses coupled with an optimized calibration that also results in a wider torque curve.

The Gilmore Oil Company was an independent oil company in California founded by Arthur Fremont Gilmore after he struck oil on his dairy farm in the Fairfax district of Los Angeles around 1903.

Chevrolet issues software-related stop-sale on Blazer EV



(December 27, 2023) Chevrolet has issued a stop-sale on the 2024 Blazer EV to fix a software quality problem, according to Automotive News. The issue is not safety-related and affects "a limited number" of the electric midsize crossovers, Chevy said, without giving a specific quantity. The stop-sale covers vehicles in transit and on dealership lots.

Mercedes receives approvals for special automated driving marker lights

(December 26, 2023) Mercedes-Benz is the world's first automobile manufacturer to receive permits for special exterior marker lights for automated driving in the states of California and Nevada. The exemption permit for California is for testing vehicles and initially limited to two years. The Nevada permit applies to Mercedes-Benz Model Year 2026 production vehicles and will remain valid until a statutory modification is achieved with the state legislature.
