Auction saw nearly 1,000 bidders
from 35 countries around globe

(December 28, 2023) BLENHEIM, Ontario, — The Porsche market maintained its robust momentum in December with RM Sotheby's sale of The White Collection, a hotly anticipated auction of the renowned collection of rare Porsche models mostly adorned in stunning shades of white. Bidders hailed from around the globe, with the final sales total numbering over $30 million.

Demonstrating that the market for pristine modern sports cars is far from slowing down, the specially specced late-model examples on offer captivated buyers. With nearly 1,000 registered bidders at the time of the sale, it was a strong indicator of the mass appeal of modern Porsches, especially those with significant originality, low mileage, and pedigree, which fetched record-breaking results. The sale featured everything from Porsche luggage, signs, and posters to the cars themselves, with each item commanding incredible prices across the board.



 "The White Collection sale captured the world’s attention with its exclusive Porsches and memorabilia, curated with a level of detail and perfection we rarely see. We always knew these cars would do well, but the results were incredible, indicating market robustness. Late-model sports cars, especially Porsches, are in high demand, with record-breaking sales like the 918 Spyder, which doubled its previous record," said Gord Duff, global head of Auctions.

The crown jewel of the collection, the 2015 Porsche 918 ‘Weissach’ Spyder, shattered expectations and sold for $3,937,500, selling for nearly $1million over its high estimate and exceeding the previous record for the model by nearly $2 million.

Also noteworthy was the sale of the 1997 Porsche 911 GT2, going under the hammer in the stunning shade of Glacier White over extended black leather upholstery to sell for $2,397,500, the 2016 Porsche 911 R, having covered just 19.7 miles, sold for $1,105,000, while the most powerful road-going 911 ever produced, the 2019 Porsche 911 GT2 RS ‘Weissach’, sold for $1,006,000 — all selling well over their pre-auction estimates.

These cars are renowned not only for their connection to this exclusive collection but for their distinct and irreplaceable attributes: they are among the rarest and most unique one-of-one models ever created. Future Porsches might emulate their rarity and appeal, but the unique legacy and unmatched characteristics of these models remain a benchmark in the annals of automotive history, never to be replicated.
