Roadside Triumph



The Triumph Herald is a small two-door car introduced by the Standard-Triumph Company of Coventry, England, in 1959 and made through 1971. Body design was by the Italian stylist Giovanni Michelotti, and the car was offered in sedan, convertible, coupe, wagon and van models. This mid 1960s convertible was found resting by the side of a Texas highway.

(August 19, 2018) It was time to load up the vehicle and head to Virginia to see the better half’s sister, a trip we've made before. Unlike that first trip, there would be no metaphoric transformation of coal into diamonds. I had learned my lesson the first time. We would not sacrifice ultimate comfort for usable cargo room, though we came close.

This idyllic scene that includes a rather used up 1960s era pickup truck was captured in Chicken, Alaska. Technically, the pickup is probably not abandoned, but still used for chores. However, we think it would look right at home in a field of abandoned vehicles.

Ford reveals 2018 Cobra Jet — The fastest Mustang ever

(August 18, 2018) DEARBORN, Mich. — Ford Performance has revealed the quickest drag racing Mustang ever, capable of covering a quarter-mile in the mid-eight-second range. The 2018 Mustang Cobra Jet is a limited-edition turnkey race car that honors the 50th anniversary of the original that dominated drag strips in 1968. The new Cobra Jet makes its public debut today at the 2018 Woodward Dream Cruise.

FCA Toledo Machining Plant to build key component for plug-in hybrid Jeep

(August 17, 2018) AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — FCA US announced today that it has awarded the production of the Power Electronics module for the Jeep Wrangler PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) to its Toledo Machining Plant, positioning the 54-year-old Ohio facility to play a key role in helping the company meet future regulatory requirements.

Subaru announces pricing on all-new 2019 Forester models

(August 17, 2018) Subaru of America has announced pricing on the 2019 Forester model line. The redesigned 2019 Forester will be offered in five trim levels: Base, Premium, new Sport, Limited and Touring when it arrives at retailers this fall. Pricing on the SUV begins at just $500 more than last model year at $25,270 including destination charge. The Forester tops out with the Touring edition at $35,270.

Test and trial at the 'Green Hell' for all-new BMW 3 Series Sedan

(August 17, 2018)  The next generation of the BMW 3 Series Sedan just completed the crucial final stages of suspension and chassis development prior to the start of production. There was only one possible location for full driving dynamics testing and set-up runs — the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife. For over 35 years, test runs at the "Green Hell" have traditionally served as an important validation step for drivetrain and suspension technology of newly developed BMW models.

1946 Hollywood stock footage gives glimpse of highway travel in L.A.

(August 16, 2018) This nearly six-minute stock footage from Columbia's "Down to Earth" gives us a rare glimpse of driving life just after World War II in Southern California. It's a unique treat to take a steam train ride on tracks parallel to the North San Fernando Road in Los Angeles County that times for part of California Highway 99.

The Hollywood footage was shot from a train car pulled by a 2-8-0 steam locomotive, and lit by movie studio klieg lights positioned on a flatcar.

VW Spektrum Program gives customers 40 custom colors for Golf R

(August 16, 2018) Herndon, Va. — Volkswagen of America  has announced the Volkswagen Spektrum Program for the 2019 Golf R.  The program will allow customers to choose from 40 custom order colors — in addition to the five standard colors — ranging from Nogaro Blue Pearl and Violet Touch Metallic, to Caribbean Green and Copper Orange Metallic.

These options make the Golf R stand out, from the highway to the driveway, while also highlighting the owners’ personality. The cost for one of the custom colors is $2,500.
