Mazda CX-5 impresses with athletic handling, styling, safety features

(March 4, 2018) Unless you’ve just crawled out from under an Afghan, you’re probably aware that the roadways and parking lots are jam-packed with crossovers these day — of every brand, color, size and description. 

If you had asked someone 20 years ago to define “crossover,” they would have either given you a blank stare, or started babbling some basketball jargon about a certain kind of play.  

Back then you had sedans, coupes, convertibles, station wagons, trucks and SUVs. Period.

(March 4, 2018) You have to wonder about the priorities of a company that builds sports/luxury vehicles, but whose press kit for the latest version of their mid-sized sedan, the A6, starts with a look at its new infotainment interface, connectivity solutions, and shifts to driver assistance systems before getting to the nuts and bolts of the mechanical parts that make this product a car, not a rolling WiFi hotspot.

2018 Cadillac XT5 — Comfortable, composed and capable

(March 3, 2018) I reviewed the Cadillac XT5 last year when it first launched in mid 2016 as a 2017 model. It took the place of the outgoing SRX. That review has been updated to include changes for the 2018 XT5 tested here.

The XT5 is powered by an all-new 3.6-liter 310 horsepower V6. The engine includes cylinder deactivation that allows it to switch down to four cylinders when the vehicle decides it doesn’t need the extra power and can also shut off completely when the vehicle is stopped to save fuel.

Cadillac to preview all-new XT4 at the 2018 Academy Awards

(March 2, 2018) For the fifth consecutive year, Cadillac will return as official automotive partner and vehicle provider of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences for the 90th Oscars. The brand will run three television spots on Oscars night that focus on performance, technology and the future of Cadillac vehicles.

The spots include the first glimpse of the all-new Cadillac XT4 SUV, which will be revealed in New York later this month.

Improved online VIN decoder covers more classic Chevy models

Aston Martin profits grow by quarter billion pounds in record year

(March 2, 2018) GAYDON, England — Aston Martin Holdings, the designer and manufacturer of luxury handcrafted sports cars, has reported a record full-year financial performance driven by continued strong demand for the DB11 and special models.

For 2017, the group delivered its highest-ever revenues of £876m, up 48% versus the prior year. Adjusted EBITDA more than doubled to £207m, while pre-tax profit rose by a quarter of a billion pounds to £87m, reversing a pre-tax loss of £163m in 2016.
