Dodge to reveal new 2015 Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger in N.Y.

Toyota helps deliver world-first copper recycling technology

(April 7, 2014) Copper is one of the world’s most sought-after metals, yet independent estimates* suggest that, at current levels, the global mineable supply will be exhausted in around 40 years. Toyota has worked with a group of industry partners to define a world-first system to retrieve and recycle copper from vehicle wiring harnesses, helping secure a valuable new source of the raw material.

Copper is in high demand for infrastructure development in emerging markets and is also used in the manufacture of electric motors for hybrid powertrains.

Spiders invade Mazda cars for the second time

(April 6, 2014) Mazda North America is recalling vehicles for the second time in three years because spiders may weave a web clogging a vent and excessive pressure in the fuel tank, according to the Detroit News. The Japanese automaker said Friday it is recalling 42,000 2010-2012 Mazda6 vehicles equipped with 2.5L engine, according to a filing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

On its surface, it is a seductive notion that fits with today’s “make the bastards pay” mentality that pits one side eternally against the other.

GM sets March and first quarter sales records in China

(April 5, 2014) SHANGHAI — General Motors and its joint ventures had record sales in China during March and the first quarter of 2014. Sales in March increased 7.8 percent on an annual basis to 313,283 units. This helped domestic sales in the first quarter reach 919,114 units — an increase of 12.6 percent from the year-ago period.

GM’s 2014 sales in China are on track to hit 1 million units by mid-April.
