Guinness record for largest Ferrari parade will be made Sept. 15

(August 3, 2012) LONDON — Ferrari North Europe now has over 1,000 cars registered to break the Guinness World Record for the Largest Parade of Ferrari Cars at on Saturday, Sept. 15, during Ferrari Racing Days at Silverstone Circuit.

Ferrari North Europe previously set the record with 385 cars on the Silverstone Circuit at the Ferrari Racing Days in 2007, but this was later increased to 490 cars.

Bridge testing verifies new Cadillac safety tech

(August 3, 2012) DETROIT — New York’s famed Brooklyn Bridge provided a key testing ground for Cadillac’s new Driver Awareness and Driver Assist active safety technologies that include maintaining a safe following distance to other vehicles even in stop-and-go traffic.

The Brooklyn Bridge’s intricate metal design and traffic volume allowed General Motors engineers to refine the radar sensors so they can tell the difference between stationary objects like guard rails and bridge structure from vehicle traffic.

All-electric Toyota RAV4 EV to go on sale in California

Toyota reports big increase in sales over July 2011

(August 2, 2012) TORRANCE, Calif. — Toyota has reported July 2012 sales results of 164,898 units, an increase of 36.6 percent compared to the same period last year on a daily selling rate (DSR) basis. On a raw volume basis, unadjusted for 24 selling days in July 2012 compared to 26 selling days in July 2011, Toyota sales were up 26.1 percent from the year-ago month.

Honda named UK's 'greenest" car brand, but with some qualifications

(August 2, 2012) Visitors to EcoVelocity, the UK's green motor show, have named Honda as the automotive brand they perceive to be the greenest, ahead of Vauxhall in second place and Nissan in third. Mia Electric came fourth and Toyota in fifth place.

Vauxhall was the brand that EcoVelocity visitors are most likely to buy within the next 12 months, Toyota second and BMW in third place.

General Motors reports sharp drop in net profit

(August 2, 2012) DETROIT — General Motors reported today that net profit fell sharply in the second quarter, as widening losses in Europe partially offset "solid" earnings in North America.

Net income attributable to common stockholders for the April-June period dropped 41 percent to $1.49 billion. Revenue dipped 4 percent to $37.61 billion, largely due to the stronger U.S. dollar. North American pretax profit fell 13 percent from the year-earlier period to $1.97 billion.

Chrysler has 'Total Recall'

(August 2, 2012) AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — The Chrysler brand has launched a new co-branded commercial for the Chrysler 200 Convertible as part of a multitiered partnership with “Total Recall,” the highly anticipated action thriller in theaters Aug. 3.

Futuristic Chrysler and Dodge branded hovercraft vehicles will appear in the film.
