(August 10, 2012) SPRING HILL, Tenn. — General Motors literally started from the ground up in building its new $460 million engine plant where the Ecotec 2.5L engine that debuts in the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu will be assembled. With monthly overall customer demand down 3.8% compared to July 2011, Nissan maintained its market share above 3.9% supported by strong sales in Eastern markets where sales jumped 15.3% to 14,540 units.

(August 8, 2012) TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. — A bipartisan group of governors announced the formation of the National Governors Auto Caucus today at an annual industry conference sponsored by the Center for Automotive Research. The Governors Auto Caucus was formed to support a robust auto manufacturing sector that is vital to a healthy U.S. economy.

Governor Rick Snyder (R-MI), Governor Jay Nixon (D-MO), Governor Bill Haslam (R-TN) and Governor Pat Quinn (D-IL) are the founding governors launching the caucus.
