Tony Soprano's Cadillac Escalade sells for $119,000 at auction

(November 23, 2015) BOSTON — The white 2003 Cadillac Escalade used on screen by James Gandolfini in his iconic role as Tony Soprano has sold for $119,780 according to Boston-based, RR Auction. The vehicle was used during the final three seasons of the award-winning HBO series The Sopranos.

2005 Ford GT brings highest price at Mecum's Anaheim auction

(November 20, 2015) WALWORTH, Wis. — The Mecum Anaheim 2015 auction held Nov. 12-14 at the Anaheim Convention Center in California achieved $13,853,225 in total sales as 416 cars hammered sold throughout the three-day event.

Held annually since 2012, the Southern California auction has established itself as an important part of the Mecum Auctions’ calendar. Plans to return in 2016 for the fifth-annual event are already in place with dates set for Nov. 17-19.

Ninety-four classic cars spanning 83 years at Silverstone sale

(November 10, 2015) BIRMINGHAM, England — Ninety-four classic cars spanning 83 years, as well as a host of automobilia and luxury lifestyle items, will be offered this weekend at Silverstone Auctions’ sale at the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show.

One of the biggest classic car auctions in the calendar, the two-day sale takes place on the Nov. 14 and 15 at the NEC, Birmingham.

The highlight of the sale has to be a "on the button" low mileage 1991 Jaguar XJ220 (pictured below), estimated at between £300,000 ($468,000) and £350,000 ($546,000).

Borgward pioneered direction indicators in 1949

(November 4, 2015) STUTTGART, Germany — Many technical features that are taken for granted in today's automobiles were only introduced as standard equipment because of the determined efforts of valiant pioneers. Carl F. W. Borgward (1890-1963) was one of them. The direction indicator was one of the trendsetting technical innovations that made the post-war 1949 Borgward Hansa 1500 (pictured above) a milestone of automotive history.

That's because this 1949 model was the first German automobile to feature a direction indicator system as standard equipment.

Classic 1970 Chevy Camaro shows supercharged LT4 crate engine

(November 3, 2015) LAS VEGAS — Chevrolet Performance is showing off the new LT4 crate engine in the most attractive way possible — under the hood of a classic 1970 Camaro RS. The concept vehicle was introduced today at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas.

As the supercharged 6.2L heart of the Corvette Z06, the LT4 is rated at 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque, making it the most powerful production-vehicle engine ever from General Motors. The new crate engine — offered in dry-sump and wet-sump versions — allows builders to use the high-tech performance engine in their hot rod projects.

Vintage 1967 Chevy Nova 2.0-liter packs a modern punch

(November 2, 2015) LAS VEGAS — Demonstrating the evolution of high-performance and the latest in crate-engine technology, Chevrolet’s turbocharged 1967 Nova 2.0 is a contemporary hot rod with timeless style.

Chevrolet Performance engineers built the car to showcase the “LTG” direct-injected 2.0-liter turbo crate engine as an alternative to conventional V-8 conversions. Rated at 272 horsepower, it offers comparable power to the 275-hp 327 (5.3L) V-8 originally offered in the ’67 Nova SS — and more than the 195-hp 283 (4.6L) V-8 also offered in the Chevy II Nova lineup.

Clarion Builds 1974 BMW 2002 earns Petersen Automotive Museum award

(October 30, 2015) CYPRESS, Calif. — Clarion Corporation of America announced today that its Clarion Builds 1974 BMW 2002, a completely restored and tastefully modified example of an iconic Bavarian classic, has been awarded with the Petersen Automotive Museum's "Petersen Perfection" Award during their Oktoberfest event in Los Angeles, which took place on Oct. 25.

"I carefully looked over every car at the show to find the best example of a car that was built to 'perfection'," said Terry Karges, the executive director of the Petersen Automotive Museum.

Honda celebrates 50 years in the United Kingdom

(October 26, 2015) It was the year the Beatles performed the first stadium concert in the history of music, while cartoon heroes Tom and Jerry and the puppet-tastic Thunderbirds first aired on TV.  Cigarette advertising was banned on British TV, the Sound of Music premiered and Churchill was buried.  On top of that DJ Jazzy Jeff, Alan Cumming and Brooke Shields were born.

1965 also saw the year Honda first started trading in the UK.  It also saw the first Grand Prix win for Honda in the legendary RA272, thanks to Ritchie Ginther at the Mexico Grand Prix.
