Around the world in a 1915 Model T Ford

(March 21, 2016) BRENTWOOD, Essex, England — A 100-year-old Ford Model T is on a challenge to drive around the world. Dirk and Trudy Regter from the Netherlands have owned their 1915 Ford Model T since 1997, and began their journey in the summer of 2012. The couple, both retired, have so far covered almost 50,000 miles, visiting and supporting various projects run by the international children’s aid organization: SOS — Children’s Villages.

1968 Shelby GT500KR tops sales at Mecum's Kansas City auction

(March 16, 2016) WALWORTH, Wis. — Mecum Auctions’ momentum into 2016 continued in Kansas City last weekend following the company’s highest-grossing sale in history in January. The auction house’s annual spring auction held March 11-12 at the Kansas City Convention Center saw 572 vehicles cross the auction block with 409 classic and collector cars hammering sold for a strong 72-percent sell-through rate.

Duke's 'Little Mouse' Fiat 500 up for auction

(March 10, 2016) LONDON — A  special pre-war Fiat 500 Topolino with a fascinating history will be auctioned by Classic Car Auctions (CCA) on March 19 at the Warwickshire Exhibition Centre.

This particular example, with silver paintwork and a blue leather interior, was ordered new by one of the wealthiest men in the world at the time, the second Duke of Westminster, Hugh Grosvenor, way back on Sept. 14, Sept. 1939. It was registered to the Westminster ancestral country estate, Eaton Hall, in Cheshire.

A lesson in the modern suspension system by Chevrolet — in 1936

(March 8, 2016) Auto companies created interesting and educational commercials in the 1930s. One of the most interesting is Chevrolet's educational eight-minute instructional commercial in 1936 depicting how "modern" auto suspensions smooth out the road, soaking up imperfections.

Near the end of the film, Chevrolet depicts two cars traveling in slow motion, one  with "old-style suspension" and the other with a "modern" knee-action suspension showing how pitching and rolling have been harnessed by the 1936 Chevrolet.

1963 Jaguar E-Type found under a hedge goes up for auction

(March 2, 2016) LONDON — A 1963 Jaguar E-Type found under a hedge in the village of Bisley in Surrey could sell for thousands of pounds at an international car auction in London next week. E-Types have become extremely popular with collectors over the last couple of years and this car, which shows just 44,870 miles on the clock and still has the last tax disc on the windscreen which expired in November 1969, is already attracting attention from around the world.

Classic car clubs already number 100 for Silverstone Classic
