BMW motorcycle sales on record pace to start 2015

(February 16, 2015) MUNICH — After the fourth record year in succession in 2014, BMW Motorrad has started the new year with a significant increase in sales. With 6,263 units, 15.2% more motorcycles and maxi scooters were supplied to customers worldwide in January 2015 than in the previous year.

Honda to showcase diverse range at London motorcycle show

BMW Motorrad achieves record sales in 2014

(January 20, 2015) MUNICH — BMW Motorrad sold more vehicles in 2014 than in the year before, achieving a record sales figure for the fourth time in a row. With 123,495 vehicles sold in 2014, the manufacturer delivered more motorcycles and maxi scooters than ever before in the company's history.

This was an increase of 7.2% compared to an already very strong previous year. In December, deliveries rose by 10.9% to 7,032 units.

Ducati racks up another record sales year

(January 17, 2015) BOLOGNA, Italy —  Ducati achieved a new sales record in 2014 by delivering 45,100 bikes to customers, 2% more than in 2013, marking the fifth consecutive year of growth.

This increase also stemmed from the introduction of new products that, despite market uncertainty, made a clear contribution to what has been an outstanding result for Ducati. More specifically, with the introduction of the new Monster 1200 and Monster 821, Monster family sales rose by 31%, with 16,409 new bikes sold.

Honda's Grom returns with two new colors

(January 15, 2015) TORRANCE, Calif. — Honda announced today that its Grom, the compact motorcycle with a big attitude, will be offered in two additional colors for its second model year in the manufacturer's lineup. For 2015, Yellow and Pearl White options join the popular Red and Black versions that were available in its successful debut model year, with all variants getting a new graphic treatment on the tank covers.

Harley-Davidson and Sturgis plan 75-year agreement

(January 15, 2015) Harley-Davidson and the city of Sturgis, S.D., are setting their sights on the future — far into the future. In the spirit of this year's 75th Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, the company and city officials are finalizing an agreement covering the next 75 years, making Harley-Davidson the official motorcycle of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.

Harley-Davidson electric motorcycle concept to be displayed in Canada

(December 10, 2014) CONCORD, Ontario — Innovation, meet heritage. Harley-Davidson Motor Company recently revealed Project Livewire concept — the first Harley-Davidson electric motorcycle. And the Harley-Davidson Project Livewire Experience will be coming to the Powersport Services (PSS) motorcycle shows across Canada this winter.

The static display will be located separately from the corporate Harley-Davidson booth in a prime location and will include one Livewire unit on a JUMPSTART demo, a second display unit on a stand, as well as a PDC design video on a large-screen TV.

Honda marks milestone: Global production of 300 million motorcycles

(November 26, 2014) TORRANCE, Calif. — Achieving a milestone more than 65 years in the making, Honda has announced production of its 300-millionth motorcycle. The milestone bike is a Honda Gold Wing produced at the company's Kumamoto Factory in Japan.  Honda will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the iconic Gold Wing in 2015.

Honda began mass production of motorcycles in Japan in 1949 when it built the Honda 98cc Dream Type-D.  Today, Honda produces motorcycles, ATV's and side-by-sides at 32 plants in 22 countries, including two plants in North America.

Harley-Davidson reports strong third-quarter sales

(November 12, 2014) Harley-Davidson reports that 73,217 new models were sold worldwide during the third quarter 2014 compared to 70,517 during the same period of 2013. Much of the growth success is attributed to the launch of new 2015 models in late August.

BMW motorcycle sales at record pace for 2014

(November 12, 2014) MUNICH — Sales of BMW Motorrad are 7.4% ahead of the previous year after 10 months. As of October, 109,052 motorcycles and Maxi-Scooters were delivered compared to 101,530 units in 2013. Sales in October rose by 5.5% to a new record for October of 8,835 vehicles.
