Ford leapfrogs Volkswagen as most reliable van manufacturer in UK

(November 7, 2012) BRENTWOOD, Essex — Ford builds the most reliable commercial vehicles according to a survey of the 50 largest UK contract hire and leasing companies. The Ford Transit came out on top of the van reliability survey with the Ford Transit Connect, retaining its second place from a year ago. In the manufacturer table, Ford moved up into the top spot ahead of Volkswagen.

Vauxhall launches fastest sub-£30,000 car in UK

(November 7, 2012) LUTON, UK — Vauxhall has today released a high-performance replacement for the 325PS Insignia VXR that achieves 170 mph — 15 mph more than its predecessor — yet costs £3,760 less than the outgoing car at £29,995.

Called the Insignia VXR SuperSport, the new car produces more power and achieves a higher top speed than any other UK production car costing less than £30,000, including market newcomers like the BMW 135i M Sport.

Maserati to unveil new Quattroporte in Detroit

Ford, Microsoft celebrate five years of in-car connectivity

Volvo testing new fast-charger for electric cars

(November 5, 2012) Volvo is testing a new fast-charger for electric cars that cuts recharging time to an outstanding 1.5 hours. The fast-charger operates six times faster than today's on-board devices.

"We know that short recharging times and extensive operating range are a necessity for potential electric car consumers. The fast-charging unit helps cure what is known as ‘range anxiety' since the car can be more easily recharged during the day,"
