Volvo begins production of the world's first diesel plug-in hybrid

(November 19, 2012) LONDON — Volvo is ramping up production of the new Volvo V60 Plug-in Hybrid ahead of first customer deliveries in early 2013. After the initial batch of 1,000 model year 2013 cars, production will increase to 4,000-6,000 cars for model year 2014.

The assembly of the world's first diesel plug-in hybrid has been successfully integrated on the same production line as the regular powered V60, V70, XC70, S80 and XC90 models at the Torslanda plant in Gothenburg.

Construction begins on China plant to build Jaguar Land Rover vehicles

(November 18, 2012) JIANGSU, China — Jaguar Land Rover and Chery Automobile Company Ltd, the British and Chinese carmakers, have formally laid the foundation stone for their new manufacturing facility in the People's Republic of China.

The two companies recently received formal approval from the Chinese Government for their joint venture and now have a license to manufacture Jaguar Land Rover vehicles and new models for a partnership brand in China.

Jeep Wrangler edges out Land Rover Defender for UK honor

The award, which goes specifically to the four-door Wrangler Unlimited, comes from long-established British specialist publication 4x4 Magazine, whose panel of expert judges put the rugged US-built off-roader at the top of a list of extremely capable competitors.

Honda refreshes Crosstour for 2013; better mpg, lower price

Ford triples number of dealers certified to sell C-MAX Energi

1.5 million Duramax diesel engines built at GM plant

(November 17, 2012) MORAINE, Ohio — General Motors has announced the production of its 1,500,000th Duramax 6.6L diesel engine at its DMAX Ltd. Joint venture with Isuzu Motors Ltd.   DMAX Ltd, a joint venture between GM and Isuzu, was established in 1998.  GM introduced the Duramax diesel in the United States in its 2001 model year.
