Barcelona to make Nissan NV200, e-NV200 next-generation taxi

(November 23, 2012) BARCELONA, Spain — Nissan has presented the Nissan NV200 and the e-NV200 concept as the city's next generation taxi, leading the way for zero emission vehicles in Spain and providing a further boost to local production in Barcelona for the automotive sector.

The NV200 is a new-generation compact van suited to a wide variety of uses for customers around the world including the future taxi of New York. First launched in Japan and Europe in 2009, the NV200 is now available in more than 40 countries, including China, India, and Indonesia, and has sold more than 135,000 units worldwide.

Profits forecast to reach 10-year high in Canada auto manufacturing

At $1.35 billion in pre-tax profits, the industry will enjoy its best bottom-line result since 2002, according to The Conference Board of Canada's Industrial Outlook-Autumn 2012 forecast for Canadian automakers.

Ford Focus earns Top Safety Rating from NHTSA

(November 23, 2012) DEARBORN, Mich. — The 2013 Ford Focus has received a top safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).  The Focus earned a five-star Overall Vehicle Score in NHTSA's New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) testing, which combines vehicle performance in frontal and side-impact crash tests and a resistance to rollover evaluation.

NICB: Car thieves get no charge from Toyota Prius

(November 23, 2012) DES PLAINES, Ill. — The National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) has released a comprehensive report that examines the theft history of the Toyota Prius.  From its introduction to the U.S. auto market in 2000 through June 30, 2012, the report covers all Prius thefts reported to the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) beginning with the very first Prius theft on September 4, 2000. 

Toyota recalling older model Tacoma pickups over spare tire issue

(November 22, 2012) Toyota is recalling about 150,000 Tacoma pickup trucks because the spare tires can fall from beneath the trucks. The 2001 to 2004 model-year trucks were sold or registered in 20 cold-weather states and Washington, D.C., Toyota said.
