Mazda to build Toyota vehicle in Mexico

(November 9, 2012) TOYOTA CITY, Japan — Toyota and Mazda announced today that Mazda’s plant in Mexico, currently under construction, will produce a Toyota-brand vehicle for sale mainly in North America. The sub-compact Toyota-brand vehicle, to be based on the Mazda2, is to start production around the summer of 2015 at a pace of 50,000 units per year and will be sold through Toyota dealerships.

Porsche completes roof construction for paint shop at Leipzig plant

(November 8, 2012) The next milestone has been achieved  at Porsche. Nearly one year after the foundation stone ceremony, Porsche is celebrating the roofing ceremony for the paint shop at the Leipzig, Germany, plant.

One of the most advanced paint facilities in the world covering more than 645,000 square feet, this shop is part of the largest construction project in the history of Porsche: the expansion of the Saxony plant into a fully-fledged factory with on-site body assembly and paint shop for the production of the new model, the Macan crossover vehicle.

Toyota recalls Scion iQ for passenger restraint system problem

(November 7, 2012) TORRANCE, Calif. — Toyota today announced that it will conduct a safety recall involving approximately 11,200 Scion iQ vehicles to inspect the front passenger Occupant Classification System (OCS) weight sensor cables and install new protective covers over the sensors.
