Toyota profit outlook improves on healthy North American sales

(November 5, 2012) Toyota today reported a sales surge of 45 percent in North America in the latest quarter while operating profit doubled to help the automaker raise its full-year profit outlook.

Regional sales climbed to 598,000 units in the three months ended Sept. 30, the company's fiscal second quarter, up from 413,000 a year earlier, when sales worldwide were hampered by the earthquake in Japan, Automotive News reported.

Year-over-year sales to individual customers increased for the sixth straight month, up 15 percent. Total Buick sales, including those sold to executive fleets and other commercial customers, also grew by 15 percent.

Ram supplies 20 trucks for storm relief

(November 4, 2012) AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — Chrysler's Ram Truck brand this weekend donated 20 Ram 1500 Tradesman trucks and $100,000 to the American Red Cross to assist with relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

“The impact of Superstorm Sandy was widespread and the road to recovery will be long for many families,” said Neal Litvack, chief development officer at the American Red Cross.

It was just the C-Max's first full month of sales. The new C-Max Hybrid led Ford in achieving its best October hybrid sales month ever with a total of 4,612 sales, up 142 percent over October 2011.
