Scion adding first sedan to its lineup

(January 7, 2015) TORRANCE, Calif. — Scion, struggling with decreasing sales, is expanding its lineup to include a sedan for the first time. The new sedan will be introduced in April at the New York International Auto Show along with the all-new Scion iM.

The iM is the official name for the production version of the iM Concept car shown at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November.

Mercedes to move U.S. headquarters from N.J. to Atlanta

(January 7, 2015) MONTVALE, N.J. — Mercedes-Benz USA has announced that it will relocate its corporate headquarters to Atlanta, Ga., in a move designed to better serve its growing customer base and strengthen the company's position for long-term, sustainable growth.

MBUSA executives and staff will relocate from its primary facility in Montvale, N.J., to a temporary facility in Atlanta's Central Perimeter on an interim basis.  The company will construct a new, state-of-the-art headquarters expected to be completed in early 2017.

GM Ventures sees potential in fuel-saving engine technology

Jeep sells record 1 million vehicles worldwide in 2014

(January 7, 2015) AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — The Jeep brand recorded sales of more than 1 million units across the globe in 2014, setting a new all-time record for the third consecutive year.  Sales of 1,017,019 Jeep vehicles bettered the brand's 2013 record of 731,565 by 39 percent.

Nissan sets sales record with 30,200 Leaf electric vehicles sold in 2014

(January 6, 2015) NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Nissan shattered yet another sales record with 30,200 Leaf vehicles sold in 2014, which is the first time any plug-in has sold more than 30,000 units in a single year.

U.S. auto industry finishes strong; 16.5 million vehicles sold in 2014

(January 6, 2015) The auto industry finished 2014 strong with 16.52 million vehicles sold, the best result since 2006, up 5.9% over 2013. This marks five consecutive years of growth. The total was helped by a strong December with a sales pace of 16.92 million compared with 15.52 million a year ago. Actual sales in December were up 10.8% from a year ago.

The robust December sales were led by double-digit sales increases at Fiat Chrysler, General Motors, Hyundai-Kia, Toyota and Subaru as U.S. consumers took advantage of year-end deals, lower fuel prices and an improving economy.

Kia posts best-ever full-year sales in U.S.

(January 6, 2015) IRVINE, Calif. — Kia capped a record-setting year with best-ever December sales of 45,587 vehicles — up 35.6 percent over the same period in 2013 — and the highest annual sales total in company history of 580,234 vehicles, up 8.4 percent year-over-year and 4.0 percent over the previous record set in 2012.

Leading the historic performance were the U.S.-built Optima, which established a new single nameplate record of 159,020 units, and the iconic Soul, which saw sales increase for the fifth straight year.
