Ford police sedan EPA-rated as most fuel-efficient police vehicle in U.S.

(November 26, 2013) DEARBORN, Mich. — Ford’s latest police vehicle is the most fuel-efficient police car sold in the United States, with an EPA-estimated rating of 20 miles per gallon city, 30 mpg highway and 24 mpg combined.

The special service police vehicle combines the durability of Ford’s Police Interceptor sedan with the fuel efficiency of its 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine.

3-D scanning big part of Cadillac Elmiraj design

(November 25, 2013) DETROIT — Structured-light 3-D scanning, an advanced measuring technology often used for fine art restoration and reproduction, helped create a “work of art” in the Cadillac Elmiraj concept car.

3-D scanning uses projected light patterns and an advanced camera to capture three-dimensional shapes and translate them into math data that can be manipulated in digital modeling programs. Developers of Elmiraj, a modern update of a classic two-door grand coupe, extensively used the digital mapping technology.

Chevrolet Volt owners silence California gas pumps

In less than three years, Chevrolet Volt owners in California have driven more than 130 million all-electric miles, avoiding use of an estimated 7 million gallons of gas — enough to mute gas pumps across the state for nearly eight hours.

(November 23, 2013) LONDON — As luxury British sports car maker Aston Martin’s centenary year draws towards its close the company is unveiling a collection of unique artworks created to celebrate and document its 100 years in business.

More than 150 of the sport car maker’s owners, enthusiasts and advocates on Nov. 21 joined key figures from the London art world at the brand’s unique central London showcase — W-One — for the unveiling of the paintings created by  Aston Martin’s centenary artist-in-residence, James Hart Dyke.

One of oldest surviving Mercedes-Benz in world to be sold at auction

(November 23, 2013) LONDON — One of the oldest Mercedes-Benz in the world, a 1905 Simplex 28/32 HPs Phaeton, is to be auctioned by Coys at their True Greats sale on Dec. 3. It's the first time this car has been sold by auction in its almost 110 year history.
