The Tundra took Georgia like Sherman took, um, Georgia

(November 16, 2013) It's not often a carmaker's media launch of some new or redesigned product is close enough to Greenville for me to drive rather than fly. One such event was Toyota's introduction of the renovated Tundra pickup several weeks ago. Toyota threw this outing – the Tundra East Coast Drive Camp, they called it – at Barnsley Gardens Resort. Located just northwest of Atlanta, it was about a three-hour haul from Greenville. I slog nearly that far to the airport when I fly out of Atlanta.

Ford, Coca-Cola unveil Fusion with PlantBottle technology interior

Volkswagen to show CrossBlue Coupe Concept in Los Angeles

(November 15, 2013) LOS ANGELES — Volkswagen is giving a spectacular glimpse at the future and at a new era of SUV design with the U.S. debut of the CrossBlue Coupé concept at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show.

Klaus Bischoff, head of design for the Volkswagen brand, says: “The disproportionate growth in the SUV segment gives designers the opportunity to implement an even greater diversification of models. The CrossBlue Coupé shows the potential of our Volkswagen design DNA and will undoubtedly have an influence on future SUV models.”

GM sells October record 282,446 vehicles in China

(November 15, 2013) SHANGHAI — General Motors and its joint ventures sold 282,446 vehicles in China last month, setting a new October record. Sales were up 12.2 percent on an annual basis, as domestic sales by GM’s Shanghai GM and SAIC-GM-Wuling manufacturing joint ventures as well as its major brands reached new highs for the month.

Nissan to introduce electric commercial vehicle e-NV200 in Japan

Ford F-150 EcoBoost hits 400,000 sales

(November 14, 2013) DEARBORN, Mich. — Sales of Ford F-150 with EcoBoost — launched less than three years ago — have already topped 400,000 units in the United States.

Adventurer makes second attempt at coast-to-coast record

(November 14, 2013) Vintage Adventurer Rod Wade is making a second attempt on setting a new world record for driving a pre-war car from New York to California against the clock. Australian Rod and his co-driver Michael Flanders will make a second attempt on the 2,947mile journey in their 1930 Ford Model A, departing Staten Island at1 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 22 with the aim of reaching Venice Fishing Pier in under 60 hours, giving an estimated arrival time of the morning of Sunday, Nov. 24.

Ford unveils all-new global small car concept in Brazil
