Inventor and blacksmith August Fruehauf enters Automotive Hall of Fame

(July 19, 2017) DETROIT — More than 100 years after Michigan native August Fruehauf invented the "motorized" semi-trailer in Detroit, he and his more than 2,000 engineering innovations will be recognized for founding an industry that would have a major impact on world commerce to this day.  Fruehauf joins the nearly 800 men and women from around the world that have been honored for their outstanding automotive achievements since 1939, during this year’s 2017 Automotive Hall of Fame induction ceremony July 20 at Cobo Hall in Detroit.

SCRAMP ushers in eighth Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion

(July 18, 2017) MONTEREY, Calif. — In four weeks tens of thousands of the world’s automobile community will sharpen their focus on all the activities that comprise Monterey Classic Car Week that runs from Aug. 11-20. Since assuming control of historic racing at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in late 2009, the Sports Car Racing Association of the Monterey Peninsula (SCRAMP) is poised to usher in its eighth edition of the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion in spectacular fashion and kick-off the entire week on Friday evening, Aug. 11, with its race car show on Alvarado Street.
 

Innovative technology on rise for Atlanta Concours

Mecum Denver auction to feature 1,000 American vehicles

(July 4, 2017) Mecum Auctions will return to Denver July 20-22 at the Colorado Convention Center featuring an estimated 1,000 American muscle cars, classics, Corvettes, Hot Rods, Resto Mods and more to cross the auction block.

This is the third year that Mecum Auctions has staged a collector-car auction in Denver, with the first two annual events amassing a combined $23 million in sales with consignments from at least 23 different states.

Second-annual Mecum Portland event topped by 1968 Yenko Camaro

(June 22, 2017) WALWORTH, Wis. — Mecum Auctions was in Portland this past weekend with an impressive lineup of 461 classic and collector cars. The two-day auction at the Portland Expo Center achieved $7.9 million in overall sales totals topped by a 1968 Chevrolet Yenko Camaro that brought $395,000.

1938 Delahaye wins 'Best of Show Pre-War' at San Marino show

(June 14, 2017) SAN MARINO, Calif. — A 1938 Delahaye Model 135 Roadster by Chapron was named “Best of Show Pre-War,” and an ultra-rare 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing Alloy Body won “Best of Show Post-War” accolades at the San Marino Motor Classic.

In its seventh year, San Marino Motor Classic exhibited 357 cars and welcomed 10,000 attendees. The show raised more than $300,000 for the Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA, the Rotary Club of San Marino, and USC Trojan Marching Band. To date, the event has raised $1.6 million for charity.
