Fiat plant produces 5 millionth 1.3 Multijet diesel engine

(March 24, 2013) Fiat Powertrain Technologies, Poland plant in Bielsko-Biała, has reached a historic milestone — the 5,000,000th 1.3 MultiJet engine has rolled off the lines at the Polish plant. The record demonstrates the great success of this small diesel engine — four cylinders in line, 16 valves and 1248 cm3 capacity — in production from 2003 and the world’s first application of MultiJet technology, the evolution of the Common Rail system developed by the Fiat Group in 1997.

Peugeot dealership holds electric car rally in UK

(March 22, 2013) LONDON — Electric cars across Cornwall in southwest England recently hit the roads and ventured across the South West to take part in one of the country’s first ever electric car rallies.

Over 40 "green" vehicles assembled at Truro’s Lemon Quay and made their way across the county, passing by Trelissick Gardens and boarding the iconic King Harry Ferry, before finishing up the 26 mile circuit at the Cornwall Hotel in St Austell.

Ford cuts global water use 8.5 percent per vehicle from 2011 to 2012

(March 22, 2013) DEARBORN, Mich. — Ford reduced the average amount of water used to make each vehicle by 8.5 percent between 2011 and 2012 — putting the company more than halfway toward its current goal of using an average of just 4 cubic meters per vehicle globally by 2015.
