Land Rover Range Rover Sport — Refined and capable

By Jim Meachen and Ted Biederman

It's been nearly a decade since Land Rover introduced the Range Rover Sport featuring an unequaled combination of horsepower and handling while retaining the company's vaunted off-road characteristics and the appealing Range Rover styling in a slightly smaller package. At a company where significant changes come at a glacial pace, the second-generation Sport has finally arrived for 2014 and is a marked improvement over the outgoing model — lighter, sportier and more fuel efficient, but with a bigger cabin and more passenger space.

Land Rover Range Rover — Improved in all areas

By Jim Meachen and Ted Biederman

No matter how adept a sport utility vehicle is at climbing rocks, fording streams or tackling wild terrain, most of its life will be spent on hard pavement accomplishing the chores of everyday life. For that reason the all-new new fourth-generation Range Rover (only the fourth complete redesign in 43 years) has taken the upscale suburban driving experience to a new level. It’s one honey of a luxury SUV.

GOLDSBORO, N.C. — No matter how adept a sport utility vehicle is at climbing rocks, fording streams or tackling wild terrain, most of its life will be spent on hard pavement accomplishing the chores of life. For that reason the all-new 2013 Land Rover Range Rover is one honey of a luxury SUV.

2013 Land Rover LR2

MONTREAL, Quebec — It has often been said that Land Rovers are the Swiss Army knives of the automotive world, albeit it with a British accent. You can rock climb, go for a leisurely drive, wade through bodies of water or just sit in your own driveway listening to classical music through orchestral hall-quality speakers…all in the comfort of your own vehicle. This was emphasized  in Montreal and northern Quebec driving the 2013 Land Rover LR2.

Land Rover Range Rover Supercharged — Leading the way

There used to be an advertising tag line for Hills Brothers Coffee that said, “Follow me, Men…head for the hills.” I was reminded of this recently as I spent some time with the 2012 Range Rover Supercharged. This is a luxury vehicle that could leave an impassable mountain range crying when it drove away.

Land Rover Range Rover Evoque — SUV fun in high style

By Jim Meachen and Ted Biederman

We concede that the sexy new Range Rover Evoque possesses a moderate level of off-road capability and does not significantly diminish the brand's off-road image. But we are hard pressed to believe that anyone anywhere has purchased an Evoque — regardless of the Range Rover name attached — for serious off-road adventures.

The Evoque's considerable presence in the marketplace where it has won more than 90 awards worldwide including North American Truck of the Year stems first and foremost from its provocative styling and the considerable hype from London to New York that has made it trendy and chic.

Land Rover LR4 — Brings peace of mind

By Jim Meachen and Ted Biederman

Most LR4 owners have no desire to take their high-dollar vehicle off road, but they know that if they ever need to reliably slog through mud, rock climb, or ford rivers, it is parked, ready and waiting, in the driveway. It's peace of mind. An insurance policy, if you will.

Land Rover Range Rover Sport — Luxury on or off the road

By Jim Meachen and Ted Biederman

Land Rover in 2006 added a stylish high-performance model to take on competitors such as the BMW X5, Mercedes M-Class, Porsche Cayenne and Volkswagen Touareg.

The goal with the Range Rover Sport, now entering its sixth model year, was to plug a hole in the British brand that has been known for decades as offering an unsurpassed combination of ultimate luxury and off-road toughness.

Land Rover Range Rover — luxury suitable for hill, dale or highway

By Jim Meachen and Ted Biederman

Previously our only experience with the all-new Range Rover came at an arduous off-road course near Atlanta.

The Land Rover flagship was brilliant climbing over a several fallen trees, slogging through mud-filled trails, and crawling down a slippery slope into a stream. It was magnificent inching over rocks and boulders.
