(March 2, 2016) The Chevrolet Malibu has been reworked for 2016 and now carries a striking exterior design, and the mid-sized sedan has a premium look and feel inside. Harold Gunn of the Automotive Reporter drove the new Chevrolet for a week and reports his findings.

Harold proclaims the new car has "great ride and handling" and he likes the fuel-efficient turbocharged 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that is EPA-rated at 27 mpg city and 37 mpg highway.

Honda Civic hatchback coming to U.S.; prototype to be shown in N.Y.

1963 Jaguar E-Type found under a hedge goes up for auction

(March 2, 2016) LONDON — A 1963 Jaguar E-Type found under a hedge in the village of Bisley in Surrey could sell for thousands of pounds at an international car auction in London next week. E-Types have become extremely popular with collectors over the last couple of years and this car, which shows just 44,870 miles on the clock and still has the last tax disc on the windscreen which expired in November 1969, is already attracting attention from around the world.

Volvo S90 wins Production Car Design of the Year

(March 2, 2016) GENEVA — Volvo Cars’ S90 premium sedan has been voted Production Car Design of the Year 2015 by a panel of professional car designers from around the globe. The award, presented by Car Design News, represents the pinnacle of automotive design awards. The jury is made up of 18 top car designers from around the world from companies such as Bentley, Daimler, McLaren and Ferrari.

Ford, Honda, Nissan, Fiat-Chrysler pace 6.8 percent February sales gain

(March 2, 2016) U.S. new-car sales grew 6.8 percent in February to 1.3 million vehicles — the best February in volume terms since 2001. The annual adjusted sales rate was 17.53 million, the best rate for a February since 2000. The SAAR a year ago was 16.39 million.

Ford, paced by gains across the board, surged 20 percent. Fiat Chrysler rode strong demand for Rams and Jeeps to a 12 percent increase. Honda said sales improved 13 percent to 118,985 while Nissan said its sales grew 11 percent to 130,911. Both Honda and Nissan said they set records for the month.

Subaru all-wheel drive production reaches 15 million

(March 2, 2016) CHERRY HILL, N.J. — Subaru of America announced today that total production of Subaru All-Wheel Drive vehicles from their parent company, Fuji Heavy Industries, reached 15 million units. This milestone was achieved in the 44th year of production of AWD vehicles with the introduction of the Subaru Leone 4WD Estate Van in September 1972.

Since then, Subaru has continuously enhanced its AWD technology and the basic functions of its cars, with the consistent strong aim to make driving safer and more enjoyable.

2017 Corvette Grand Sport has racing roots

Ford posts best February retail sales in 11 years

(March 1, 2016) DEARBORN, Mich.— Ford ’s U.S. sales were up 20 percent in February versus a year ago with 217,192 vehicles sold. Retail sales grew 11 percent — the company’s best February since 2005. Retail sales gains came across the product portfolio. Cars gained 6 percent, trucks increased 5 percent, and SUVs were up 22 percent.
