Seventh-generation Cougar



This 1989/1990 model Mercury Cougar has seen better days and might be hoping for a good home. But chances are good it will continue to be relegated to neglected and abandoned status. The Cougar is a nameplate applied to a diverse series of automobiles sold by Mercury from 1967 through 2002. The seventh-generation Cougar got a new body and chassis in 1989 and was built through 1997. The standard engine in 1989 was a 3.8-liter V-6 making 140 horsepower mated to a four-speed automatic. The 1989-90 models can be differentiated from the later seventh-generation models because of their slightly larger grille.

2017 Infiniti QX70 Limited debuts at New York Auto Show

(March 22, 2016) NEW YORK — Infiniti has announced that the new 2017 Infiniti QX70 Limited, a specially equipped version of the iconic QX70 performance crossover, will make its world debut this week at the 2016 New York International Auto Show. Available in rear-wheel or all-wheel drive configurations, it is scheduled to go on sale at Infiniti retailers nationwide beginning this summer.

The QX70 Limited is the second in the Infiniti lineup, joining the 2016 QX80 Limited.

Toyota to make automatic emergency braking standard by 2017

(March 22, 2016) LOS ANGELES — Toyota plans to make automatic emergency braking a standard feature on many Toyota and Lexus vehicles by the end of 2017, the automaker said today. The move would give it a four-year head start on a recent pact between nearly all major automakers to do the same by 2022.

“We are proud to help lead this industry in standardizing these systems and bring automated braking to our customers sooner rather than later,” Jim Lentz, CEO of Toyota North America, said in a statement.

2016 Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid leads segment in fuel efficiency

(March 22, 2016) DETROIT — Offering a segment-best EPA-estimated 46-mpg combined fuel economy rating, the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid is an efficient midsize sedan driving Chevrolet into the future with uncompromising comfort, connectivity and driving dynamics.

It leverages drive system components and software from the plug-in Chevrolet Volt to provide all-electric propulsion in some driving scenarios, along with power to assist the gas engine. Additional technologies contribute to EPA-estimated mileage ratings of 47 mpg city and 46 mpg highway. No other 2016 midsize sedan hybrid offers higher EPA-estimated city mileage.

(March 21, 2016) NEW YORK — Honda is giving media and consumers a first look at a U.S. spec version of the next-generation Clarity Fuel Cell sedan at the New York International Auto Show, March 23 – April 3. The five-passenger, hydrogen-powered Clarity Fuel Cell sedan, to be released later this year, features the most advanced technology available on a fuel cell vehicle (FCV) including Honda Sensing as well as support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Around the world in a 1915 Model T Ford

(March 21, 2016) BRENTWOOD, Essex, England — A 100-year-old Ford Model T is on a challenge to drive around the world. Dirk and Trudy Regter from the Netherlands have owned their 1915 Ford Model T since 1997, and began their journey in the summer of 2012. The couple, both retired, have so far covered almost 50,000 miles, visiting and supporting various projects run by the international children’s aid organization: SOS — Children’s Villages.
