Advanced 3.2-liter turbo diesel to power 2014 Ford Transit

(December 10, 2012) DEARBORN, Mich. — Ford’s all-new Transit full-size van, which goes on sale late next year, will be offered with a new clean-running 3.2-liter Power Stroke five-cylinder diesel, further bolstering Ford’s lineup of fuel-efficient cars, trucks and SUVs.
 

BMW Group sales climb 23 percent in November

(November 10, 2012) The BMW Group experienced growth on all continents in November and achieved another record month in sales. With 170,932 BMW, Mini and Rolls-Royce brand automobiles delivered worldwide, sales were 23% higher than in the same month last year  when 138,954 were sold.

Thousands of cars damaged by Sandy to be crushed

(December 10, 2012) DES PLAINES, Ill. — The National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) says progress is being made in identifying and removing thousands of vehicles damaged beyond repair by Sandy. The estimate of 230,000 insurance claims for vehicle damage in the areas affected by Sandy remains unchanged.

Many of those vehicles were flooded and are being towed to holding areas where they will be loaded on car haulers and taken to facilities to be crushed.

Chevy, Michigan Tech reveal cycle for wounded veterans

(December 9, 2012) WASHINGTON, D.C. – Chevrolet and students from Michigan Technological University have revealed a new hand cycle designed to make it easier for wounded veterans to compete in racing events, including marathons. In addition, GM Chairman and CEO Dan Akerson announced GM will build 10 prototypes for use next year by the Achilles Freedom Team of Wounded Veterans in marathons across the country.

Toyota announces slight price increases for Camry, Camry Hybrid

(December 8, 2012) TORRANCE, Calif. — Toyota has announced manufacturer’s suggested retail prices (MSRP) for the 2013 Camry and Camry Hybrid mid-size sedans, Prius c  hybrid sub-compact and the Scion xB, urban utility vehicle.
 
Camry gas models will range from $22,235 for the L grade four-cylinder automatic to $30,465 for the Camry XLE V6 automatic, reflecting an average increase of $150, or 0.6 percent. The Camry Hybrid will range from $26,140 for the LE grade to $27,670 for the XLE, an increase of $165, or 0.6 percent.
