Audi A3 — A fun-to-drive small sedan with a luxury bent

(January 8, 2023) Audi introduced the all-new A3 sedan as a 2022 model after a year hiatus, and we give the German luxury car company a high score for creating a fun-to-drive small car that is every bit an Audi as its larger, more-expensive cousins. This is the smallest Audi sedan, and that suits us just fine. We love small cars that can comfortably accommodate two adult passengers in the second row for an occasional trip to a favorite eating place.

Audi A3 — Audi’s entry-level sedan gets complete makeover

(October 25, 2022) After skipping the 2021 model year, Audi introduced its fourth generation A3 in America for 2022. The A3 is the entry-level vehicle for the brand and while somewhat popular in Europe only sells about 10,000 a year here in America. Part of that reason is sedans are deeply out of fashion for the U.S. car buyer favoring trucks and utility vehicles.

Audi Q5 — Quality and competence

(October 2, 2022) Looking for an all-around competent four-passenger luxury SUV crossover? We've got a suggestion — the 2022 Audi Q5. The compact Audi has been criticized for not being a standout in any one category among a passel of competitors. But the Q5 has excellent qualities in virtually every measurement you would use before plunking down north of 50k. And for that reason it's a standout.

(May 5, 2022) Oh yes, looks matter. The luxury compact SUV segment that began well over a decade ago and sells by the bucketloads has moved on to a supposedly more stylish SUV-coupe iteration and as expected sells in big numbers. Luxury automakers Porsche, Genesis, Mercedes and BMW all offer slope-backed variants of their mid-sized SUV product offerings like Mercedes GLC Coupe, BMW’s X4 and X6, Porsche Macan and Genesis GV70.

2019 Audi S5 Sportback

INDIANAPOLIS — I fly way too much, but sometimes the destination can be reached by car — preferably a very fast and comfortable one.  It’s a great challenge.  Which car to drive?  A large luxury SUV would be great, but they’re not fun fast.  A sports car is fast, but not very comfortable.  Coupes can be comfy and fast, but aren’t very practical.  So, I settled for a top flight “five door coupe.”

2019 Audi SQ5

MIAMI — Three things you can count on in a German luxury car. The latest in technology will be available and it will be fussy, and sometimes frustrating to operate. The cabin will live up to the highest standards of luxury while giving you the feel of a high-class English gentleman’s club. It will go like a bat out of hell. The 2019 SQ5 from Audi encompasses all three.

2018 Audi S4

PHOENIX — Last year, Audi updated its fifth-generation A4 sedan. Audi didn’t do anything radical, with the basic dimensions staying the same, but Audi aficionados certainly recognized some significant changes. So, understandably, for 2018 the A4 is almost exclusively a carryover from last year, and a much stronger performance-oriented S4 has joined the lineup.

2018 Audi A5 Cabriolet

PHOENIX — The A5 is an attractive version of Audi’s A4 sedan and is available as a coupe, four-door Sportback, and a Cabriolet, tested here. The A5 Cabriolet is available in a choice of two trim levels: base ($49,600) and the performance-oriented S5 version ($62,300). Both trim levels are luxury drop tops with an attractive exterior and a formal interior. Both are well tailored with superb build quality, top rate materials — leathers, wood veneers and brushed aluminum or stainless steel trim — comprehensively engineered with impeccable attention to detail.
