Kia America offers 500 kilowatt-hours to 2023 Niro EV buyers



(September 28, 2022) IRVINE, Calif. — Kia America and Electrify America have announced a collaboration to provide drivers of the all-new second-generation 2023 Kia Niro EV with 500 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of complimentary EV charging at any Electrify America station across the United States. The charging credit can enable Niro EV owners to drive as many as 1,950 miles, depending on driving style and external conditions.

GM investing $760 million in Toledo propulsion plant for EV drive units



(September 26, 2022) DETROIT — General Motors has announced it will invest $760 million at its Toledo, Ohio, propulsion manufacturing operations to prepare the facility for production of drive units that will be used in future Ultium-based battery electric trucks, including the Chevrolet Silverado EV, GMC Sierra EV and GMC HUMMER EVs. Toledo Propulsion Systems will be GM’s first U.S. powertrain or propulsion-related manufacturing facility transformed for EV-related production.

Ford begins work on Blue Oval City — Future home for electric vehicles

Toyota, Kenworth successfully test fuel cell electric truck capabilities

Volkswagen introduces Alexa-powered interactive test drives



(September 23, 2022) HERNDON, Va. — Volkswagen and Amazon are set to deliver an innovative new take on the automotive test drive. Starting this fall, customers in select regions can schedule an in-person Alexa-guided test drive of Volkswagen’s ID.4 SUV. Following a brief walk around of the vehicle with a Volkswagen Product Specialist, participants will embark on a real-world test drive with Amazon Alexa as their companion. The Alexa guided test drive is enabled through an Echo Auto device on the vehicle’s dashboard.
