VW announces pricing for refreshed 2022 Tiguan starting at $26,790

(August 4, 2021) HERNDON, Va. — Volkswagen of America has announced that pricing for the 2022 Tiguan compact SUV will start at $26,790 including destination charge. The refreshed Tiguan features new styling and updated technology that will further its appeal in one of the fastest-growing segments of the U.S. market.

The Tiguan will offer four trim levels, all powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged and direct-injected four-cylinder engine with 184 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel drive or 4Motion all-wheel drive is available on the first three trims, while the top-of-range model features standard 4Motion. All Tiguan models are equipped with a standard eight-speed automatic transmission for smooth power delivery. A third row of seats, rare in the compact SUV segment, is standard on front-wheel-drive models; all-wheel-drive models only come with two rows.

The refreshed Tiguan sharpens its exterior styling with a completely revised front end, new LED light signature with available illuminated light line flanking the VW logo, and optional updated R-Line design elements. Four new wheel designs — from the standard 17-inch aluminum alloys to 18- , 19- , and 20-inch wheels—along with eight available colors offer owners multiple ways to customize the vehicle for their style and driving needs. New interior colors include Cinnamon leatherette and Noisette leather.

The 2022 Tiguan boasts updated technology throughout its cabin, as the Volkswagen Digital Cockpit instrument cluster now comes standard with an 8-inch display (10-inch Digital Cockpit Pro available). Also standard is Volkswagen Car-Net® with in-car Wi-Fi capability when you subscribe to a data plan. From the second trim in the revised lineup, MIB3 infotainment is standard along with wireless charging and wireless App-Connect for compatible devices.

Heated front seats are now standard, with a heated steering wheel and ventilated front seats as available options. Models from the second trim level up receive a next-generation Climatronic Touch interface for climate control and a power tailgate, while R-Line models get a leather-wrapped steering wheel with touch islands and sliders. Additional available features include leatherette or leather seating surfaces, power driver and passenger seats, panoramic sunroof, Fender Premium Audio, and 15-color ambient lighting.

The IQ.DRIVE driver assistance suite will be standard on all but the base model Tiguan. IQ.DRIVE includes Front Assist (Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Monitoring), Active Side Assist (Blind Spot Monitor), Rear Traffic Alert, Lane Assist (Lane Keeping System), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) Stop and Go, Travel Assist (semi-automated driving assistance), and Emergency Assist (semi-automated vehicle assistance in a medical emergency).

The base model Tiguan comes standard with Front Assist, Side Assist, and Rear Traffic Alert, and can be optioned with the IQ.DRIVE package to round out the feature set. Other available driver assistance technologies include Light Assist (High Beam Control for headlights), Park Assist (Parking Steering Assistant), and Dynamic Road Sign Recognition.

The Tiguan is expected to reach U.S. dealers this fall.
