Volkswagen's worldwide sales grow 11.2 percent in first 11 months

(December 11, 2012) WOLFSBURG — Through the first 11 months of 2012, the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand handed over 5.22 million vehicles to customers worldwide, an 11.2 percent increase over the same period in 2011.

The brand also recorded an increase of 11.5 per cent for November, delivering 504,800 units.

"The Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand has maintained a fast pace in November and recorded a strong increase. We anticipate a new delivery record for the full year, but also expect next year to be challenging," said Christian Klingler, board member for Sales and Marketing.

Volkswagen Passenger Cars kept deliveries on the overall European market stable despite the difficult situation on markets in Southern Europe and handed over 1.58 million units in the period to November, on a par with the prior-year period.

While deliveries in Western Europe (excluding Germany) decreased 6.4 percent to 782,600 units, Central and Eastern Europe recorded a 25.9 per cent increase.
