Toyota to introduce family of Prius vehicles in Detroit

(December 24, 2010) TORRANCE, Calif. — Toyota will stage the world premiere of the Prius family of vehicles at a press conference at the 2011 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

The Prius family consists of four Prius-badged variants — the third-generation standard Prius, a plug-in hybrid Prius, a new Prius concept car and a larger Prius with 50 percent more cargo room.

The vehicles were shown to Toyota’s U.S. dealers at its national dealer meeting in October. Dealers who attended the meeting said the larger Prius, dubbed the Prius-V, was similar in size to the Toyota Venza, with the silhouette of the standard Prius. That vehicle will be the first new addition to the Prius lineup.

The press conference will be held on Monday, Jan. 10 at 1:05 p.m. EST in the Riverview Ballroom at Cobo Center. A live Webcast will be available at ToyotaNewsroom.com.

A Prius Family Sneak Peak video featuring X Games champion skateboarder Bob Burnquist is available at YouTube.com/Toyota.
