Suzuki heads north for its Super Bowl commercial

(January 27, 2012) BREA, Calif. — Suzuki has released its 2012 Super Bowl commercial — "Sled" — on the automaker's Facebook and YouTube pages.

The commercial that highlights the all-wheel-drive version of the Suzuki Kizashi Sport. This is the second consecutive winter-themed Super Bowl commercial for Suzuki. Last year, the Kizashi battled "wicked weather" snowmen inspired by the comic strip "Calvin and Hobbes."

The new ad features Inuit people and their sled dogs. Ultimately, the sled is replaced with a new Suzuki.



"We are delighted to celebrate our successful 2011 sales year with an 11 percent increase, by once again showcasing the personality of the Suzuki brand and our award-winning Kizashi sport sedan on advertising's biggest stage," said Jeff Holland, director of social media, American Suzuki. "The Kizashi's all-wheel-drive performance and luxurious interior make it the perfect choice for those looking to upgrade their ride."

Developed by El Segundo, Calif.-based advertising agency Siltanen & Partners Advertising, Suzuki's “Sled” television spot illustrates the exhilaration one can receive from upgrading their ordinary daily driver with a more entertaining mode of transportation. In this case, trading in a dog-powered snow sled for a sporty new 2012 Kizashi.

Suzuki's commercial will run in both 60- and 30-second spots in Suzuki's top markets during and after the Super Bowl. The ads are part of a new campaign set to begin in March.

With the new ad, Suzuki also will give away scannable pet identification tags to the first 1,000 people who register on its site. With each tag, a $3 donation will be made to the American Red Cross for disaster relief.
