Kia's unnamed concept hints at return to large SUV market

(January 6, 2016) Kia Motors America will reveal a new concept car Jan. 11 at the 2016 North American International Auto Show in Detroit hinting at a return to the large SUV market. Kia hasn't marketed a large sport utility in the U.S. since the seven-passenger Borrego was dropped in 2011.

Conceived at the automaker’s California design studio, Kia says the concept offers an abundance of advanced technology — including state-of-the-art health-and-wellness technology – and takes Kia’s design language in a bold new direction.

Kia perhaps feels that as gas prices remain low and consumers are returning to the larger SUV market in larger numbers, it's time to re-introduce a bigger sport utility. The Borrego sported a V-8 engine, but the new concept should it reach development stage will probably be propelled by a more fuel-efficient V-6.
