Infiniti launches new vehicles, new names for 2014

(July 18, 2013) With the introduction of a new vehicle nomenclature for the 2014 model year and the launch of the all-new Q50 sports sedan, the stage has been set for a new generation of Infiniti vehicles and the Infiniti brand itself. Many additional new products and drivetrains, including more hybrids, have already been announced, along with a commitment to Infiniti's continued design, performance and technology leadership.

The Infiniti Motor Co., now headquartered in Hong Kong, has also strengthened its global sales and assembly presence under an expanded executive team led by President Johan De Nysschen.

The new Q/QX naming sets a clear hierarchy of vehicle type and positioning, while also giving a nod to the original Infiniti performance luxury flagship, the Q45. For 2014, Infiniti sedans, coupes and convertibles bear the Q badging, with SUVs and crossovers designated as QX. The numeric designations distinguish each model's place in the overall lineup:

2014 Model Name Previous Model Name
Infiniti Q70 Infiniti M
Infiniti Q60 Coupe Infiniti G Coupe
Infiniti Q60 Convertible Infiniti G Convertible
Q60 IPL Coupe IPL G Coupe
Q60 IPL Convertible IPL G Convertible
Infiniti Q50 All-new vehicle
Infiniti QX80 Infiniti QX
Infiniti QX70 Infiniti FX
Infiniti QX60 Infiniti JX
Infiniti QX50 Infiniti EX

From a product standpoint, the enhancements to the lineup are led by the new Infiniti Q50, which includes 3.7-liter V6 and 3.5-liter Hybrid powertrains. World's first technologies being introduced on the Q50 include the new Direct Adaptive Steering, Active Lane Control and Predictive Forward Collision Warning. The Q50 also features the new Infiniti InTouch next-gen smart connectivity and Infiniti InTuition fully customizable digital environment.

In addition to the new Q50, the popular Infiniti QX60 adds a new Hybrid powertrain. The QX60 Hybrid features a supercharged 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder and an electric motor powered by a compact Lithium-ion battery pack located under the 3rd row seat. It is projected to realize 26 miles per gallon fuel economy (combined city/highway driving) - a 24 percent increase over standard QX60 models and is expected to have best 7-passenger fuel efficiency in the premium segment.

Once again in 2014, all Infiniti vehicles come with Infiniti Personal Assistant, a live 24/7 personal concierge service, included free of charge for the first four years of ownership.

It's part of Infiniti's Total Ownership Experience, which promises a uniquely enjoyable buying and ownership experience — supported by features such as service loan cars, roadside assistance and trip interruption benefits. For more information please visit InfinitiUsa.com.
