General Motors' China sales continue to grow

(March 4, 2011) SHANGHAI — General Motors and its joint ventures sold 184,498 vehicles in in February, setting a new record for the month. Shanghai GM had all-time February domestic sales of 78,207 vehicles, with year-on-year growth of 34.4 percent.

Buick sales rose 45.9 percent on an annual basis to 40,250 units. Several Buick products had record February sales, including the New Regal and new LaCROSSE upper-medium sedans and Excelle passenger car family.

Chevrolet sales in rose 5.7 percent on an annual basis to 42,358 units in February. The Cruze lower-medium sedan, Chevrolet’s most popular model in China, set a new sales mark for the month.

Led by the popular SRX luxury utility vehicle, February sales of the Cadillac brand jumped 121.1 percent year on year to 1,992 units.

SAIC-GM-Wuling sold 101,133 mini-vehicles in and FAW-GM sold 5,079 vehicles domestically in February.

Following all-time monthly sales in January, GM and its joint ventures have sold a record 452,570 vehicles in in the first two months of 2011, which represents an increase of 15.0 percent from the same period last year.
