Ford Super Duty, Toyota Prius, Kia EV9 winners

Top picks in annual North American
Truck, Utility and Car awards

(January 5, 2024) The Ford Super Duty has been named the 2024 North American Truck of the Year while the Kia EV9 was named Utility Vehicle of the Year, and the Toyota Prius/Prius Prime hatchback took home Car of the Year honors in the North American Car, Truck and Utility Vehicle of the Year awards. It is the 30th anniversary of the program.

The Super Duty's win marks the fourth-straight year that Ford has received the truck award, following the F-150 Lightning's victory in 2023, the Maverick's in 2022 and the F-150's in 2021. Ford beat Chevrolet's Silverado EV and Colorado for this year's title.

The winners, announced Thursday, were selected in a three-part voting process by a jury of 50 automotive journalists from North American media organizations. Three finalists in each category were revealed at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November.

The Prius/Prius Prime hatchback beat the Hyundai Ioniq 6 sedan and the Honda Accord sedan in the car category. It's the first time Toyota has won the award since 2004.

Kia EV9

Kia took home the utility award for the second year in a row, with the EV9 beating two other electric vehicles, the Genesis Electrified GV70 and the Hyundai Kona/Kona EV. Kia also took home the award in 2020 with the Telluride.

The Volvo EX30 crossover was originally named as a finalist for Utility Vehicle of the Year but was withdrawn by the automaker in December because of delivery delays. The EX30 was replaced with the Kona models.

The 2023 winners were the F-150 Lightning for truck, Acura Integra for car and Kia EV6 for utility vehicle.
