Ford Ranger — not sold in U.S. — leads Ford sales in Thailand

(March 15, 2013) BANGKOK, Thailand — Ford Thailand has announced that its momentum from a strong start to the year continued last month with its best-ever February performance. Overall retail sales for the month rose 32 percent year-over-year to 4,493 units.

The exceptional monthly sales total was again led by continued strength in demand for the company’s three most popular models in Thailand: the all-new Ford Ranger, the all-new Ford Focus and the segment-leading Ford Fiesta.

Ford’s versatile and class-defining all-new Ranger led the February performance with retail sales that jumped 84 percent from a year ago to 2,063 units.

Helping to meet the diversity in demand for the all-new Ranger, Ford is expanding the lineup by adding new variants that target the commercial segment.

Demand for the segment-leading Ford Fiesta continued to remain strong, as retail sales for Ford’s best-selling nameplate in Thailand for the past two years totaled 1,836 units in February.

Enthusiasm for the all-new Focus also continued to build in February, with sales rising 194 percent year-on-year from the previous generation Focus to 514 units.

“The 2.0-liter all-new Focus has significantly raised the bar in the compact segment, and we’re now also seeing the 1.6-liter Focus with Ford’s award-winning SYNC technology becoming one of the top choices among Thai consumers,” said Yukontorn Wisadkosin, managing director, Ford Thailand.

“After a year of tremendous growth and extraordinary demand for the all-new Ranger and the popular Fiesta, we appreciate the patience of our customers as we continue working hard to fulfill each booking as quickly as possible,” she added.
