Ford Focus, including wagon, are reaching showrooms in Europe

(May 5, 2011) COLOOGNE, Germany — Dealers across Europe will soon start selling two new versions of Ford’s all-new Focus, with production now underway of the stylish wagon and four-door versions.

The new models produced at Ford’s Saarlouis, Germany, assembly plant are being shipped to dealers for sale beginning in late May. Customers will now have a choice of three body styles — five-door, wagon and four-door.

“Customer and media reception for the all-new five-door Focus has been exceptional, and we expect an equally enthusiastic welcome for the wagon and four-door models,” said Roelant de Waard, Vice President, Marketing Sales and Service, Ford of Europe.

“Ford Dealers across Europe are seeing strong demand as they launch the new Focus range, with well over 20,000 customer orders by early April — and this figure is rising fast."

The Focus wagon is a crucial model for the European market, with about one-third of all Focus customers choosing this body style. In some markets, such as Italy and Germany, the wagon derivative represents more than half of all Ford Focus cars sold.

“The wagon has always been a key strength of the Ford Focus range in Europe and its popularity is second only to the five-door,” said Gunnar Herrmann, who oversaw the development of the new Focus as Ford’s Global C-car Vehicle Line Director.

The Focus wagon will not be sold in the U.S.
