Fisker Karma on display at Harrods department store in London

(January 13, 2012) KNIGHTSBRIDGE, London, UK — Thousands of shoppers at the world famous department store, Harrods in Knightsbridge, London, won’t be able to miss the Fisker Karma as they arrive for the Winter Sale.  The world’s first luxury electric vehicle will take pride of place in the prominent Brompton Road window display until the Feb. 4.

“Harrods is one of the most prestigious retail sites in the world, which is perfect for our car,” said Henrik Fisker, co-founder and CEO of Fisker Automotive. “The landmark store attracts hundreds of thousands of customers from all over the world during January, and we look forward to introducing them to the Fisker Karma.”

Harrods Media Sales Director, Guy Cheston, said: “We are delighted to have partnered with Fisker Automotive to become the first UK retailer to exhibit the Fisker Karma. This exciting new luxury electric vehicle will take pride of place in our iconic windows and is certain to attract a great deal of interest from our customers.”

The Karma is the world’s first true luxury electric vehicle with extended range.  It combines the efficiency of electric drive with the range and freedom of gas-powered cars, while offering the comfort and performance expected of a high-end sedan.

The Karma is a series hybrid, driven by a pair of electric motors totaling 403 horsepower that get their power from a 22 kWh lithium ion battery supplied by A123 Systems, or a 175 kW generator spun by an efficient, 2.2-liter gasoline engine.

The Karma can travel from 0-60 mph in 6.2 seconds.

Prospective customers visiting Harrods will be able to take a tour of the vehicle, offered the chance to virtually configure their own model and put in touch with their nearest dealership to arrange a test drive.

The Fisker Karma is the first American-designed and engineered luxury vehicle specifically developed to appeal to global markets, Fisker says. It is the only luxury sedan in the world that meets future fuel consumption and emission requirements, making it suitable for any international city with its ability to travel 50 miles on electric only with zero emissions.

The 2012 Fisker Karma is already on sale in the United States, priced from $102,000, and will be available at dealerships internationally in the coming weeks. Harrods owner Qatar Holding is also a shareholder in Fisker Automotive Inc.
