Chrysler issues two recalls

(April 7, 2012) Chrysler said Friday it was issuing two recalls to repair 2012 models for potentially faulty valves that could cause a fire and wheels that could increase the risk of a crash.

The automaker said it is calling back 1,689 model year 2012 Jeep Patriot and Compass SUVs that may have a fuel tank assembly that has a damaged roll-over valve that could lead to fuel leaks. Chrysler will replace the fuel tanks when it launches a recall in June.

The automaker said it is unaware of any accidents, injuries, fuel leaks or fires.

Separately, the company is recalling 289 Chrysler Town and Country and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans that may have a faulty right rear hub and bearing assembly that could lead to a wheel falling off. It is calling back another 60 outside the United States — and said there are no reports of crashes or injuries as a result of the issue.

The recall will begin this month and the company will replace the right rear hub.
