(July 6, 2012) WINDSOR, Ontario — Chrysler Canada has announced the company’s 31st consecutive month of year-over-year sales growth, representing the longest sales streak in the company’s Canadian history. June sales were 23,705 compared with 23,576 in June 2011, representing a 1 per cent increase.

Calendar-year-to date, Chrysler has sold 130,286 vehicles in Canada, representing a 7 per cent increase over the same period in 2011.

”At the halfway point in 2012, our passenger car sales are up a whopping 31 per cent, led primarily by sales of the Chrysler 300, Chrysler 200 and Fiat 500,” said Dave Buckingham, Chief Operating Officer of Chrysler Canada. “We are experiencing the best sales start to the year in over a decade, with many annual records in our sights, including Ram trucks, Jeep Wrangler, Fiat 500 and Chrysler 200.”

The Windsor-built Dodge Grand Caravan set an all time record sales month in June with 6,103 units, representing an increase of 10 per cent over June 2011, which had 5,553 sales. Also from the Dodge brand, a June sales record was set for Canada’s number one selling and most affordable crossover, the Dodge Journey.

With 2,580 new vehicles sold, Dodge Journey sales are up 21 per cent from 2,134 vehicles sold in the same month, one year ago.

On the passenger car side of the business, the Fiat 500 continues to set monthly sales record. This time, the Fiat 500 outpaced its June 2011 sales results by 48 per cent with 839 vehicles sold, compared with 567 sold in June of 2011. The Chrysler 200 continues to gain momentum in the marketplace with 1,192 vehicles sold in June 2012, compared with 861 sold in June of 2011.

This represents an increase of 38 per cent. The flagship of the Chrysler Brand, the Chrysler 300, recorded 803 June 2012 sales, that’s more than triple the number sold in the same period, one year ago.

Ram trucks are not losing any steam. While most competitors are reporting lower truck sales numbers for the year compared to 2011, Dodge Ram continues to gain important truck market share, this time, setting a June record with 6,160 trucks sold.
