(January 6, 2010) Chrysler Group had a big 2010 finish — December was the second best sales month of the year.

Chrysler Group had U.S. sales of 100,702 for December — a 16 percent increase compared to sales in December 2009 (86,523 units). For the year, Chrysler saw sales of 1,085,211 units — a 17 percent increased compared to 2009 sales.

“Chrysler Group 2010 sales of 1.1 million units are consistent with our sales objective that we presented in our Nov. 4, 2009 five-year business plan,” said Ram Truck Brand President/CEO Fred Diaz, who also is the Lead Executive for U.S. Sales. “We are extremely proud of the sales strides we made during this transition year."

For December, Ram Pickup vehicles were the top-seller with 23,241 pickups sold — and was the best-selling vehicle for Chrysler in 2010 with 199,652 vehicles sold, up 13 percent compared to 2009. Ram pickups include 1500-3500, plus 3500-4500 Chassis Cabs.

Dodge's Grand Caravan minivan came in second during December with 14,266 vehicles sold; third overall within the group for 2010 with 103,323 sold — up 14 percent compared to 2009.

The Chrysler Town & Country minivan finished third during December with 9,780 units sold, and second within the group with 112,275 units sold during all of 2010 — up 33 percent compared to 2009.

Other strong performers included the Jeep Wrangler (94,310 units sold in 2010; 8,227 units sold in December) and Jeep Grand Cherokee (84,635 units sold in 2010; 12,753 units sold in December).
