Cadillac CTS-V Coupe named Car of Texas

(May 4, 2011) FORT WORTH, Texas — The 2011 Cadillac CTS-V Coupe was named The Car of Texas by auto writers at the annual Spring Car Roundup at the Texas Motor Speedway on Monday.

General Motors won two other awards thanks to the extended-range Chevrolet Volt. The Volt was named Most Innovative car and the Alternative Powered Car of Texas.

The new 2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302, powered by a 444-horsepower V-8, was named the High Performance Car of Texas.

The revitalized 2011 Dodge Journey was named the Family Car of Texas and the all-new 2012 Fiat 500 captured two awards, Best New Design and Best Value.

"At its first TAWA Spring Roundup competition, the Fiat Brand surprised us by delivering one of the fiercest and most praised vehicle entries," said Michael Herzing, President – TAWA and publisher of LetsTalkWheels.com.

"Winning both 'Best Value' and 'Best New Design' titles this year was no easy feat. With more than 50 competitor vehicles to pick from, not one could match the Fiat 500's unique combination of Italian design, cool personalization features and fun-to-drive dynamics for the overall value."

"We knew coming here that Texas is a market open to new products and ideas. The Fiat 500 has won more than 60 awards worldwide, and the recognition from the Texas Auto Writers Association confirms that the global appeal of the Fiat 500 is captivating the American public."

The roundup featured more than 50 vehicles from various manufacturers, all vying for a top award from more than 50 of the TAWA journalists in attendance.

The event, one of two annually sponsored by the Texas Auto Writers Association, was the most well-attended in the history of the spring event, according to Herzing. Herzing said the voting was very close in all categories.

TAWA also sponsors a Truck Rodeo in October.
