GM investing $632 million in Fort Wayne Assembly for truck production



(June 13, 2023) FORT WAYNE, Ind. — General Motors has announced plans to invest $632 million in Fort Wayne Assembly to prepare the plant for production of the next-generation internal combustion engine (ICE) full-size light-duty trucks. This investment will enable the company to strengthen its industry-leading full-size truck business. Product details and timing related to GM’s future trucks are not being released at this time.

Average new-vehicle transaction price hits $48,528



(June 13, 2023) ATLANTA — The average price Americans paid for a new vehicle in May remained below the manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) for the fifth consecutive month, according to data released this week by Kelley Blue Book. The average transaction price (ATP) of a new vehicle in the U.S. increased in May to $48,528, a month-over-month increase of 0.5% ($251) from an upwardly revised April reading of $48,277.

(June 8, 2023) ORLANDO, Fla.  — When drivers load an electric pickup with heavy cargo, they make the vehicle work harder, significantly reducing the truck’s range. But by how much? AAA Automotive Engineering researchers recently tested the Ford F-150 Lightning, the electric version of the iconic best-selling American pickup, to determine the impact of payload on the range. When loaded with 1,400 pounds of sandbags, 110 pounds shy of its maximum capacity, the Lightning’s range dropped from 278 miles to 210 miles, a reduction of 24.5%.

Subaru’s bicyclist detection shows positive results



(June 7, 2023) Early versions of Subaru’s EyeSight crash avoidance system prevented real-world crashes with bicyclists traveling parallel to the road, a new study from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety shows. However, they were only modestly successful in reducing crashes with bicyclists overall.
