Toyota overtakes Subaru to lead October performance scorecards

(November 17, 2012) SANTA MONICA, Calif. — TrueCar.com released its Performance Scorecards grading automotive manufacturers and brands for their performance in the month of October. The Performance Scorecards grade each manufacturer and brand on eight different measurements including pricing, sales, incentives, customer loyalty, market share, and days in inventory.

Overall, the top manufacturers on the scorecards in October were Toyota, Subaru, BMW, and Jaguar Land Rover. Near the bottom of the list were Suzuki, Mitsubishi, Mazda, and Volvo. The brands that received the highest grades were Scion, Land Rover, Toyota, Fiat, and Subaru. The brands with the lowest grades were Suzuki, Mitsubishi, Mazda, Jaguar, and Volvo.

The manufacturers with the largest gains, from September 2012 to October 2012 were:

    Ford moved from an C+ to a B
    Volvo moved from an D+ to a C

The manufacturers with the steepest declines, from September 2012 to October 2012 were:

    Subaru moved from an A+ to an A
    Chrysler moved from a B+ to a B
    Porsche moved from a B to a B-
    Mazda moved from a C+ to a C
    Mitsubishi moved from a C to a C-
    Suzuki moved from a C- to a D+
