Ford overall winner in Edmunds 'Most Popular" vehicle awards

(January 21, 2015) SANTA MONICA, Calif. — Ford emerged as the most decorated automotive brand when car shopping site Edmunds.com announced the winners of the second annual Most Popular on Edmunds.com Awards.

Ford secured a total of eight Most Popular on Edmunds.com Awards, edging out rival brands Chevrolet and Toyota, which earned seven and six awards, respectively. Ford's bounty marks the second year in a row that it has earned the most trophies, following its haul of 10 Most Popular on Edmunds.com Awards in 2014.

Ford winners were the Explorer, Fiesta, Transit Connect, Transit van, Shelby GT500, Mustang, F-150, and Expedition. Chevrolet winners were the Colorado, Camaro, Impala, Tahoe, Traverse, Corvette, and Silverado 1500. Toyota winners were Sienna, Highlander, Camry, Avalon, Tacoma and Corolla.

Three brands — Hyundai, Maserati and Subaru — earned their first-ever Most Popular on Edmunds.com Awards today. The Hyundai Santa Fe won in the Midsize Crossover SUV category, the Maserati Ghibli won in the Premium Luxury Car category, and Subaru Forester won in the Compact Crossover SUV Category.

"The Most Popular on Edmunds.com Awards are particularly special because they're determined by our large audience of actual car shoppers," says Edmunds.com CEO Avi Steinlauf. "These awards offer a reliable reflection of which vehicles are being considered in the car shopping process."

The 2015 Most Popular on Edmunds.com Awards recognized a total of 69 vehicles across 23 segments. Winners were finalized by identifying the three new models in each vehicle segment with the highest total car-shopper consideration from January 2014 through October 2014. "Consideration" means for each new vehicle model the number of monthly unique visitors to the new car research and inventory pages on Edmunds.com's desktop site for that model.
